Barrie has significant experience in community development and journalism. An intrinsic part of his work in community development has been fund-raising, public fiscal support, and encouraging volunteer engagement. Appointed 24th October 2015.
Sue Ablett PhD
Prior to retirement Sue served for twenty years as Executive Director of the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (a national organisation and registered charity). She chaired Evesham Abbey Bell Tower Appeal; has been involved with various other local charities; and has been the driving force for Evesham Festival of Words since its inception in 2016.
Elizabeth has spent over 42 years in education. Her teaching career started at Pebworth First School and then Cleeve Prior Church England First School. In 2002 she became head teacher of Badsey First School. In 2010 she became head teacher of St Richard’s Church of England First School. She retired in 2016. Elizabeth was appointed on 31st October 2017.
Chris has spent 30 years as a trained horticulturist working in the Amenity/Landscape sector. Chris also Chairs the Evesham Arts Association, helping to promote both the performing and visual arts in and around Evesham. Community development and Volunteer engagement have been core to Chris’s work within both the arts and his involvement with numerous other local community groups. Chris was appointed in September 2018.
Gillian Pawson BSc, MA, MRTPI (rtd) - Treasurer
Gill practised as a planner for over 40 years, working for local government and running her own planning practice for 16 years until she retired in 2016. Gill moved to Evesham in 2018 to be closer to her family and to enjoy getting to know the town and the wider surrounding countryside. Appointed in September 2019.
Galen Bartholomew MBA - Vice Chair
Galen was brought up in Evesham and returned to the town when he retired. He has been interested in Evesham Abbey and Evesham’s history throughout his life. During his career he held senior management positions in contracting and education. Galen has been a Governor of two schools and he is delighted to work for and serve organisations connected with the county and city of his birth. Currently these include St. Richard’s Hospice and the Evesham Festival of Words, as well as the Evesham Abbey Trust. Galen was appointed a Trustee in 2019.
